MJW News Letter 01

Introduction:

Martin did his Foundation Year in Art & Design at Hounslow Borough School of Art. It was an extremely good course and he got to taste all the different aspects of Art & Design. However, at the time, he decided to follow the Design aspect of the course.Martin tried to secure a place at Art School, but having a number of rejections, he was bold enough to ask why he was being rejected. Where upon he was advised to just go and exhibit, as there was nothing an Art School could teach him. This caused Martin to lose heart and take a different route.Martin started painting in 1987, his Mother was painting with oils, so he tried them out. He liked them, as they had in his opinion substance and intensity. With the oil paints he started to express himself and developed his way of painting. It was only recently that Martin has started to invest time in developing his ability at painting. Martin went to West Dean in West Sussex and did a few short courses and it was there that he met Tom Benjamin. Martin has gone on to do several courses with Tom, who has really helped Martin to settle and develop himself.

Recently:

Martin sold recently through the Landmark Art Fair at Teddington, London. Having been painting in the grounds of Coworth Park, Martin was able to sell one of his paintings to one of the guests.
